08.09.11 - Smooth Out the Lines EP Lyrics
PLASTIC HEART
Written by Anne Harper

on some days
my memories escape me
but always
i would trace my way back to you

even when i grew tired of this love leaving
thinking about the way you're giving
everything you are away
i grew tired of this love leaving
thinking about they way you're giving
everything you are away
away

there you go
trying to replace me
i thought i told you so
these feelings
are not easily bought or sold

then you grew tired of this love leaving
thinking about the way you're giving
everything you are away
you grew tired of this love leaving
thinking about they way you're giving
everything you are away
away

if you were to find me
what would you say
ever if you would find me
could they take your plastic heart away
would you give it all back
would you take it all back
would you say how you really feel
and would you give it all back
would you take it all back
would you live how you really mean

by now i know you won't come find me
it could never be the same
surely it's not about us
but just the cruelness of this game
so when you grow tired of your loves leaving
thinking about the way you're giving
everything
you can find me near

SOME NIGHTS THIS EVENING
Written by Anne Harper

she always had her
own way of dealing
his words bring hurt
like a knife thrown without reason
little does he know
all his doings
will eventually
bring him to ruin na na na na

who would ever think of me
is the weight of the weighed
a who oooo oooo ooo ooo yeah
a who oooo oooo ooo ooo yeah

some nights this evening
some nights are given for believing
i don't need a mattress yard reason
to let you know oh let me go

hopelessness
resides not with the maker
his word brings light
like a ray for the taking
if she were yours
you'd be mistaken cause
porcelain is for lovely
not for breaking

who would ever think of me
is the weight of the weighed
a who oooo oooo ooo ooo yeah
a who oooo oooo ooo ooo yeah

some nights this evening
some nights are given for believing
i don't need a mattress yard reason
to let you know oh let me go

physical men only see ceiling
dare not gaze past a roof to the heavens
and on a starless night they question Yahweh
stranded in a bed of delusion

who would ever think of me
is the weight of the weighed
a who oooo oooo ooo ooo yeah
a who oooo oooo ooo ooo yeah

some nights this evening
some nights are given for believing
i don't need a mattress yard reason
to let you know oh let me go

RIGHT ANGLE
Written by Anne Harper

something falls
in the middle of night
awakes me
eases my fear
removes my doubt
awakes me
to a right angle mood

right angle moves
a first dance groove
i was thinking of you
early eve wake
tide to earthquakes
i was thinking of you

when everything is on
a clearance rack
you know that its used
but i kinda like the worn
i kinda like the old
just like we used to
it takes me right back down to

a back stage waltz
conversation no talk
i was thinking of you
deep south ties
jubilee nights
i was thinking of you

when everything is on
a clearance rack
you know that its used
but i kinda like the worn
i kinda like the old
just like we used to
it takes me right back down to

something falls
in the middle of night
awakes me
eases my fear
removes my doubt
awakes me

something falls
in the middle of night
awakes me
eases my fear
removes my doubt
awakes me

maybe it was just
those ohara drives
or the sierra night
i was thinking of you
your backlit voice
a rhythmless noise
i was thinking of you

when everything is on
a clearance rack
you know that its used
but i kinda like the worn
i kinda like the old
just like we used to
it takes me right back down to

a midnight pier
hands held for years
i was thinking of you
your timeless call
my cloudless fall
i was thinking of you

when everything is on
a clearance rack
you know that its used
but i kinda like the worn
i kinda like the old
just like we used to
it takes me right back down to

something falls
in the middle of night
awakes me
eases my fear
removes my doubt
awakes me

something falls
in the middle of night
awakes me
eases my fear
removes my doubt
awakes me

SING BY SUNDAY
Written by Anne Harper

i met a man with a heart full of dreams
wore a heather grey peacoat faded dirty jeans
he was thinking of better ways to get her off his mind
thinking of better ways to lose his place in line

Oo oo oo
they willl sing by sunday
shaking tracing back rhythm in their souls
surely she'll be mine just one day
making do with others
until they get old

she was aware of who he was
his name came up in circles from time to time
she was thinking of better ways to get him off her mind
thinking of better ways to lose her place in line

oo oo oo
they will sing by sunday
shaking tracing back rhythm in their souls
surely he'll be mine just one day
making do with others
until they get old

something wasnt ringing true and
he didn't know just what to do
he thought he tried all that he could
he left her and he knew that he would
leave it sitting on the bathroom sink
leave it sitting on the bathroom sink
everything hurts when you really really want it to
everything hurts when you really really want it to
i thought she was your favorite lady
turns out she was just the one as of lately
why don't you let her go
and we'll all sing

oooo
they will sing by sunday
shaking tracing back rhythm in our souls
surely you'll be mine just one day
making do with others until they get old

beautiful follow me
cause i know now where i go
a sign for paradise
along this empty road
if i am just the shadow on anthers heart
what good are you?
you leave me right where i started

TULIP
Written by Anne Harper

smooth out the lines
now you beg me to stay
with soil on my hands
i'm running away
there is a tulip to the left
of the fire escape
remarkable you know
we made it that way

as we end this
as we begin this
as we end this
i want you to stay
if we end this
if we begin again
if we end this
oh I need you to stay

see a new moon growing
over rivers bend
stand still pastel yellow
glow covers our skin
who could ever hope
for anything more
lighting in the sky
fireflies at my door

as we end this
as we begin this
as we end this
i want you to stay
if we end this
if we begin again
if we end this
oh I need you to stay

it is strange because its broken
its broken cause its down
its cooling off by fern groves
leaven winter lost then found
stand still as the tulip turns
stand still as the tulip turns

as we end this
as we begin this
as we end this
i want you to stay
if we end this
if we begin again
if we end this
oh I need you to stay

dreams are made for giving
never made to keep
sounds are made for living
feathered voice across the sea
stand still as the tulip turns
stand still as the tulip turns

as we end this
as we begin this
as we end this
i want you to stay
if we end this
if we begin again
if we end this
i need you to stay
